First trip to an oilrig

I am back from Scotland now after working on this rig. We worked from early morning to late at night each day. And when we didn't work we slept at this hotel.

It was nice to actually do some real work and not just studying. Though I learned a lot, mostly work-related things since we didn't excactly have time to do some sightseeing for nessie or other typhical scottish stuff. We didn't even hear one single bagpipe-tune during our stay.

I also learned that I should always bring my bathingshorts with me if I'm staying at a hotel for a business-trip. You never know when the hotel you stay at have a spa-department...

going to Aberdeen

I am going to Aberdeen this weekend. Working and learning how to use a laserscanner. So there won't be much sightseeing I guess.


Kinda ironic when I had to cancel a trip with good friends to Valdres to be able to work. I guess it becomes ironic when it is related to my previous post anyway. I'll probably be back, monday/tuesday sometime...

Filmen Loop

I was on a pre-premiere(..?) on the movie Loop it is a documantary about taking choices that makes you break out of your daily circle of life and to take the moments in your life when you ask yourself "is this really the place I wish to be?" serious. The movie show some great norwegian nature and some spectacular scenes from klimbing and skiing.

I haven't had a "feelgood-feeling" like this after a movie since the movie about that choir from "berlevåg" that I don't remember the name for at this moment...

Lately I have started using the fantastic "link-bookmark-tag-folkonomy" service del.icio.us . It is a bookmarking service where you can add links as you come across websites you encounter and would like to remember. So what you might think... Well the really great idea is the Tag-system. where you add tags to each link for categorizing purposes.

If you would like to list all the links you have visited about guitars later, you just click the gitar-tag at the right side of the screen, and you get all links you have saved about guitars.

You can also see the links to other people that has saved the same links as you. It is a great way to find other sites that you might not have found yourself. Above is my del.icio.us site. feel free to play around in it but most importantly make your own...

seiltur.tk is back!

This blog is for the trip I'm doing for the last six months this year. After several attempts on getting the phpBB-forum up and running. I have now given up. It seems like the combination of my patience and my lack of knowledge has resulted in a mutation on seiltur.tk. This time the mutation might have been for the better as I believe a blog is more reader-friendly than a forum... And I guess we need a blog more than a forum.

Maim That Tune - Detune your head

have you ever noticed yourself humming on a tune you really don't like at all. the video for the song normally makes you throw yourself over the remote to change to an other channel and now you just can't think about anything else? well here's the cure. the site claims to be able to replace that annoying tune with a better tune. it might just work...

for the times when you're all alone and feeling kinda "ninja".

www.allmusic.com is apparantly the imdb of music. If you wanna know anything about anything musicrelated go here. Haven't used it a lot yet but it appears to be promising.

imdb if you are fairly interested in movies you should already know this link, but if you don't; this is the place if you want to know anything about a movie. Including how good it is. _The_ primary source for movie-information.

why:

- I woke up not feeling too tired.

- I ate a breakfast with more than one slice of bread.

- I read some interresting stuff at "work".

- The boss at "work" came inn to talk to me because he had heard that I apparantly am smart. (not my words, and I don't think I agree completely, but still a compliment that made me happy)

- My quarantine after finishing my master only lasts for 6 months. (making it kinda useless since I'll be on a sailboat for thoose six months.)

- I got really solid signs that I will get a joboffer at the place I am after I finish the diploma.

- I'll propably be able to work during the spring at the same place, give me some much needed dough in the bank.

- I played some billiards with some friends and won all my games.

- I am tired before 24 and feel really optimistic about getting to sleep before 2400.

Red Son

A friend tipped me to write about stuff I've read lately, making hints that he had just read dostojevski. Well I could write that I've read to chapter 3 in the first Don Quiote-book or that I am currently reading book nine in the Wheel of Time series but I'd rather tell you that I read this really great comic.

It is a superman-story called 'red son' or 'rød super' in norwegian. What would happen if the pod with superman in it landed in russia instead of the US? great story, with some nice commenting on what's wrong with "the land god chose". (not israel and not an actual quote from the book I think...) It tells the whole story from birth to death or something like it.

It's candy for the communist that lives deep inside all.

48 hrs of blogging

ok, it is now two days since I made this blog and I am starting to get a feel for what I want it to be. who my targetgroup are and what type of content I wish to add to it.

hence comes my declaration of content and demography for my blog (as a list. as if you didn't already figure that by glancing down to the next lines):

- the blog is mainly for ppl that know me, but I won't exclude anyone who stumbles into my blog and wishes to read...

- I'll put pictures of me in it (since ppl I know might come to this blog to read how I am, what I think and so forth)

- pictures I find on the internet that might have something to do in my blog. (meaning only job-safe stuff.)

- whatever I wish to share from my own thoughts and life. although I'll try to put a "I-won't-feel-the-urge-to-dig-a-hole-to-China"-filter on what I write. (not a reference to a "statens veivesen"-TV-ad, more like an ostrich reference really.)

- links to stuff I stumble over on the internet and my comments to them if I wish to do so.

- drawings I've done that I wish to post here. just to have some variation on the page.

- anything else I see fit to add to this blog. (I don't want to limit my options here.)

Just to brake my line of selfobsession here. This is not me, and i am afraid i won't get a beard as full as his no mather how many years I try...

first 24 hours as a blogger

I have been wondering for the last 24 hrs now what to fill my blog with. should I fill it with pictures, poems, funny links and stuff like that or maybe lists. I like lists of all kinds. I guess I am a planner.

so what are my plans for the coming year? well first off I'm going to finish my masterdegree in something secret. (never write about anything jobrelated in your blog, comes to mind...) after that I am going to sail for a half year from norway to the Caribbean. in 34 feet of fiberglass. sharing the space with 3 other guys. trying to learn the finer arts of sailing as we go along. improving my guitar skills with the newly bought 1/2 guitar.

that was my plans for the next year.

well here it is, my next year as a list (not in any way chronological or complete):
- prepare for the sailingtrip
- finish my education
- while finishing my education make a nice impression at the company I am sitting at finishing my degree
- learn some more songs on the guitar during spring so that I don't get too annoying for the others on the boat.
- improve my drawing skills so that my planned sketchbook-diary for the trip has some standard
- get to know some nice girls during our trip (i've heard that sailors have a girl in every harbor... I guess some things are mandatory for such a trip)
- swim in the middle of the atlantic ocean
- get seasick while on land
- get seasick while off land
- eat a selfpicked coconut
- get tired of eating canned food
- miss norway
- miss the Caribbean
- eat
- sleep
- read
- use my "windsurf-board"
- swallow some powder in røldal
